Open Question: Wash sale rule and day trading question? Hi, I am efiling my taxes and I have some problem to understand the wash sale rule; I basically day traded in 2009 for 3 months and I ended with a major loss of $7,000; Now it appears that I even have to pay taxes on aproximately $9,000 of CAPITAL GAIN, I find it absurd to have lost $7,000 and pay taxes on a 9,000 gain; I read the IRS article re wash sale and it says a was sale is "the sale of a stock at loss" and the repurchase of the same stock within 30 days to offset the capital loss; I did not want to offset any loss, I was just day trading and I do not agree to have loss so much money and being not able to deduct these losses; Can anyone advice on how I can detail this trading loss on my taxes? Can I write a letter to IRS, ttached to my taxes explaining this problem? pls advice thanks

Im 17 and looking to get in tech school, anyway i want my truck ( 1994 chevy z71 ), to outrun my Friends 1998- 318 dodge. I would like some input on some of the easiest ways to get more horses. Now mines 4x4 and everything and his is 2x4 so this his is alot lighter than mine. Also mine has the throttle body injected 350 which had 200hp and 300ft/lbs stock, which is probably the weakest 350 ever made. So can anyone give me some advice on some easy ways to get more horsepower, i already have my exhaust done. I'll appreciate any advice, thanks

Open Question: Question on the Enfield No.1 Mk III? ok i recently bought a Lee Enfield No.1 Mk III at a gun show cash and carry, it is dated 1917, and shows battle use, the gun from what i could tell was all original, with absolutely no import marks. Well this being the 14th gun in my collection, i didnt get emotionally attached to the gun and it was totally an impulse buy. I am going to break one of my cardinal rules and im going to sell this rifle to buy another rifle(not sure what ima get yet). The bore is has some use to it but for the most part its pretty healthy.the stock shows wear as does some of the metal on the gun but its a solid shooter, i had to disasemble the rifle to clean the cosmoline out which as big as a pain in the a** but its a great preservative. I am here to ask what would be a fair price for this gun if i was going to sell it, and also would i be able to sell it as cash and carry as well, i live in kansas and our rifles arent even registered to an individual, just a background check at the time of the purchase. Advice? Ryan S

I'm thinking i will probably just invest about $500 right now, and maybe more later if i do well. I want to buy some low priced stocks at maybe one to tow dollars a share and keep them long term. Open Question: Car 2-Way Speakers (6.5 Inches), Kenwood vs Pioneer vs Sony? I'm changing my stock Speakers in my Civic EX 2004. For this, I will be buying 2 pairs of 6.5 inches. The new Head Unit is going to be a Pioneer. I'm not sure I can decide between Kenwood, Sony or Pioneer for the woofers. Any advice, and why I should choose one over the other? What I'm looking for primarily is Sound Quality. Not Bass or how loud they are.
Open Question: Kitten help on dietary needs? I have a eight month old kitten, and I have been feeding her a combined diet of wet food and dry food. She get Iams kitten wet food three nights a week and Iams dry kitten food is out for her constantly. Though lately her iams kitten wet food has been out of stock, at the grocery store and pet stores, so I have been giving her adult wet food filets. Open Question: Advice on purchasing "Scene It" game? My husband is interested in this game "Scene IT" and I want to buy it as a gift without asking him too many questions. I'd appreciate help with the following! He doesn't have an xbox - do I need to buy one, or can it work on a regular DVD or blu-ray player? Can you get a blu-ray version? I heard there is an 80's movie version - is that an add-on to the regular game, or is it a separate game in itself? I.e., do I buy the regular game plus the 80's game? What's the best place to buy it online (Amazon?) I looked at Target & Walmart this weekend, and neither had it in stock. What else do I need to know? Thanks for any help!!
Open Question: Has this ever happened to you? I ordered something through Amazon.com and the money came out of my account, but then I noticed today that it never cleared. I didn't get an email that the seller canceled, and it still says the item is in stock. I emailed the company, but they haven't gotten back to me. Has this ever happened to you? Should I go and order it from somewhere else? I don't know what to do! It's my boyfriends birthday gift and it's PERFECT! I can't find it in stores either. I just don't want to go order it from somewhere else and then have Amazon put it back through. Advice?

Open Question: What online discount brokerage is the best choice for me? I am looking to buy penny stocks and probably only 2 or 3 different companies. I think the two best brokers for me would be Zecco or e-trade. I will most likely keep the money in those couple stocks for a while- maybe just leave them for half a year or more but I read about some of the firms that make you pay like 1% for penny stocks, or something high so bottom line I want something with no annual fee's, low trading cost ($5 for Zecco), no extra fee's -especially for penny stocks, and thats it I guess, I will not be needing any advice so I do not care about those fee's and also I will not be buying or investing in anything else so I do not care about those fee's either. So if you could let me know what would be best for me I would really appreciate it. Also if you invest in penny stocks could you maybe email me? If you have advice I would love it. Thanks so much. so bottom line I want this- no annual fee no inactivity fee low trading costs $5-10 is a reasonable range no hidden fee's I already know...

Open Question: What should I do with my money I have with a General Mutual Fund Account and Savings Account with a low APY? I am a 28 year recently un-employed Old Male (I dont think I will have much trouble getting a job in the next few months due to work experience and a bachelors degree) from Georgia. I have managed to save a little bit of money over 4 years or so. I roughly have 23K in A general Mutual Fund Acct (Vanguard Total Stock Market Index), 13K in a Roth IRA and $8,300 in a Rollover IRA. I also have 50K in a Savings Acct with a 1.05 APY. I wanted to get some professional advice on what to do with my 23K in my general Acct (Since I dont have any confidence in the market right now: I dont think this rebound in the market will last much longer due to the next wave of foreclosures is coming). I wont touch my Roth and Rollover. Here is what I was thinking: Cash-Out my 23K from my Vanguard Total Stock Market Index, Close-out my $50,000 from my savings account. I want to look for a nice Single Family Home or condo that is 1 step away from foreclosure (Pre-Foreclosure) and purchase a nice place to live for cheap. And i wanted...
