Open Question: Do you find anything morally wrong with this situation? Note: The question is not about me. A is a 49 yr old man A and T have been good friends for over 20 years. T was in financial trouble recently and A helped him and paid his debts for him without expecting anything in return. But T offered his 16 yr old daughter, L's, hand in marriage to A. A thought about it but declined because she was too young. When A saw L again, she said "Thank you so much for your kindness to my family. I would like to be your wife if you will have me" A was happy to accept her A and L were then engaged. A asked L several times if she was happy to marry him and she said yes. He specifically asked her if she was being pressured by her parents, she said no, it was entirely her choice. A asked L how she felt about the age difference , she said "age doesn't matter to me... i only see you as a person... not your age" A was very impressed with L's maturity and character A said to L "I want you to be free.. I will give you a divorce if you are unhappy at anytime in the marriage" A and L were...

Open Question: Too much debt and not enough work .I can't pay credit card bills ...what should i do?

Open Question: Do Conservatives get the idea that it's "easy" to become a professor? Certainly not all, but many here think it's a fairly easy and simple process to go to college, get a Bachelor's, then get a Ph.D., then get hired by a major University, then get published, and get published again, then produce original research and then get tenure. Two people I know become college professors. One in English, the other in Mathematics. They both worked very hard to get to that position and incurred a good bit of debt doing so. But, they do this work because it is their passion, and they couldn't bear the thought of sitting in a cubicle or office all day.

What happens to the people that don't get the million dollar recording contracts?? What happens if 6 months after graduation im on the street, broke, with no job and 1000's of dollars in debt??? Open Question: I need brutal honesty: Did I get dumped for being poor? My boyfriend of almost a year recently gave me the "I don't want a relationship right now" line. He's a good person; we started out as friends first. He's a couple years younger than me (I'm 30; he's 28) and very accomplished; he has a masters in chemical engineering and has a great job--one of the youngest people with his title in his field. He comes from a very different financial background than me. He never had to work a day before finishing his education, as his parents are very wealthy. Most of his friends are doctors and other professional types born with silver spoons in their mouths. Some of his friends (especially female ones) did not trust me because I drive an old car and I work in humble jobs and live in a tiny apartment. He was honest enough to tell me this. I think his mother felt the same way. I know he's not seeing anyone else. But he started acting strangely when he found out I have a large student loan I'm still paying for. He knows I work hard and admires my work ethic. I've gone...

Open Question: Is the meager unemployment insurance aid that a job-seeker receives REALLY a discincentive to seek work? When I was unemployed, the benefit only covered about 35% of my bills, and didn't even come close to covering what COBRA would have cost me...I was ungodly stressed and suicidal, had no access to health care, and was watching everything that I'd worked 36 years for circle the drain, with nothing to look forward to in life but debt... I'll respect your answers, but being on unemployment insurance was actually an INCENTIVE for me to seek full-time employment... Cactus Jack: I should be grateful? I PAID INTO that system for 36 years, you jackhole. Plus, it's really a yes/no type of question... Apologies if that was satire, Cactus Jack...if it wasn't, you can re-apply the "jackhole" label...

Open Question: credit card debt help Is there a legit one? By only our fault we are credit card poor. I would like to know if there are any reputable credit card debit reliefs that are legit. Open Question: Credit report mixed up with my twin brother? I have a twin brother - same date of birth, first name begins with the same letter, and social security # is different by only one digit. I have pulled my own credit report in the past and never had any problems. Now that I am trying to apply for a mortgage, the lender has pulled my credit report. It shows my social security # but it lists my brother's name and all of his debts and his credit score. My credit is much better than his and I would never qualify for a loan with it showing his debts on my file. How can I go about correcting this and why would this happen in the first place?

Open Question: Does anyone KNOW for a fact whether or not Wells Fargo checks credit for phone banker employees? I got hired at Wells Fargo a week ago as a phone banker contingent on my background check. They are supposed to get back to me tomorrow or Tuesday and I have just been stressing because I have TERRIBLE credit. When I was younger I racked up some credit card debt I haven't been able to get under control that has gone to collections and I also owe Bank of America a couple hundred dollars. ANYWAYS, the facts are, I have extremely bad credit and if they do a credit check as part of my background check I probably wont get the job. I would just like a head up from someone who KNOWS FOR A FACT whether or not WELLS FARGO does a credit check on PHONE BANKERS (NO OTHER POSITIONS..I KNOW THEY CHECK FOR TELLERS AND POSITIONS ACTUALLY IN THEIR BANKING LOCATIONS, I HOWEVER WILL BE WORKING IN A CALL CENTER) anyways, please only answer if you really KNOW what you are talking about please and thank you!!!

Open Question: My best friend owes me money? A while ago I lent my best friend some money (and I'm talking quite a bit), I've never had this back as of yet and it doesn't look like I will ever get it back despite her promises. I really don't want to fall out with her over it but at the same time I don't want to have the p*ss taken out of me. This is also coupled with the fact she has quite a few personal problems at the minute and I don't want to upset her any further. Would I be better off writing off this debt and learning from my mistake?

Open Question: Wasn't Ronald Reagan the Best President EVER?? Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to all illegal immigrants who entered the United States prior to January 1, 1982, and had lived in the country continuously. Unemployment peaked at 10.8% percent in December 1982—higher than any time since the Great Depression Reagan cut the budgets of non-military programs including Medicaid, food stamps, federal education programs and the EPA. His administration attempted to purge many people with alleged disabilities from the Social Security disability rolls. In order to cover newly spawned federal budget deficits, the United States borrowed heavily both domestically and abroad, raising the national debt from $700 billion to $3 trillion. During Reagan's presidency Taxes were raised every year from 1981 to 1987. But the Rich top tier tax bracket rates were lowered from 70% to 28% His start in politics occurred during his work for ENERGY Giant General Electric as a spokesman. Reagan opposed certain civil rights legislation, saying "If an individual wants to discriminate...

(25/365) Out of Ideas & Out of Time

Day 25

As the title suggests, I almost missed today's photo, but I just scraped in with seconds to spare. I have all these great ideas for photos for my 365, but I never seem to find the time to set them up. Life just gets in the way.

This evening I have been letter writing for my wife, who is currently fighting her way through her late Fathers affairs. This is no easy task as he seems to have owed money to everyone & their dog. We found one credit agreement which carried an interest rate of 220.9%. Is that even legal?
