Resolved Question: College laptop: Toshiba or Dell? Yeah, another one of those questions. I've been looking at the Toshiba Satellite L505, and it looks pretty nice. A friend of mine got it for $500 at last year's Black Friday at Best Buy (I think they'll have that deal this year, but I sure as hell am not waiting 6 months to buy a computer). The only problem that I've read about it is its battery life. It seems like it starts off at 3 hours. I was thinking perhaps I was in the middle of a lecture and the computer loses life on me? (Or maybe all classrooms have a plug-in jack?) I also heard that Dell's a pretty good company for laptops. I haven't found any specific models, but I saw at quick glance the Inspiron 15 seemed to match the qualities of the Toshiba Satellite L505. And if you know a good place to purchase any of these two, posting that would be great. Voting Question: Best Buy Restocking Fees. Are You Serious. Can I file a lawsuit or get re compensation? I got all excited about Black Friday in 2009 and bought 4 laptops. 2 net books and 2 laptops. It was black friday so they had all these deals going on. I arrived late and had to settle for 2 laptops that were as Best Buy calls it "optimized." I bought the laptops but decided to return them for dell laptops because i rather bring my business to them rather than Best Buy. When I came back to Best Buy to return the 4 notebooks, I was told I was to pay a 15% restocking fee for the laptops. I told the cashier that only 1 was ever opened and I shouldn't be charged for the other 3, but I was told since I bought 2 notebooks that were "optimized" by the geek squad that they were already opened. The rules say if the item is not opened, you don't have to pay for the 15% restocking fee, but since the 2 notebooks were opened by Geek Squad staff, not by me I had to pay the 15% restocking fee. What these guys do at Best Buy are crooks! Someone please help me and give me some advice. If anything, am I justified in filing a complaint?

Voting Question: Best deals buying a new laptop? I saw the deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and I wasn't impressed. Do you think after Christmas will be a good time? Where should I look in the mean time for the best deals? BTW, I don't like new egg, or tiger direct, I prefer brick and mortar, or dealing directly with the OEM, so HP and Dell are (somewhat) good suggestions, but I'm looking for more than that, if it can be found. I should maybe add that I have no interest in a netbook. Being able to sort properly through results would almost be a necessity.
Resolved Question: Should I get an iMac now or wait until next year? I currently have a Dell PC and looking to switch to a Mac. I have decided on the iMac i want but am not sure when i should get it. Unfortunately I missed the Black Friday deals on the Apple website but oh well. Anyway I was wondering if i should get it now for x-mas gift (only gift haha) or if I should wait until next year for possible updates. I realize computers are updated every year but my b-day is in August of next year and I could probably get it then. I'm leaning toward getting it now because I'm a junior in high school and want to use the desktop for as long as possible then get the Macbook Pro for college.
